Matsya Art Degchi Dhoop Pot - Incense Holder
Crafted b
y the skilled artisans of Western Rajasthan, the Matsya Art Degchi Dhoop Pot is a celebration of India's timeless craftsmanship and spiritual traditions.
Inspired by the classic Degchi utensil and reimagined as a handcrafted incense holder, this elegant dhoop pot fills your home with the soothing fragrance of natural incense while adding a touch of heritage to your décor.
Made from durable wrought iron sheet, each pot is individually hand-cut with an intricate Matsya (Fish Scale) perforated pattern. The antique golden finish and handcrafted jali allow fragrant smoke to gently escape, creating a calming ambience during daily prayers, meditation, yoga, or festive rituals.
The Origin of "Degchi"

The word Degchi refers to one of India's most traditional cooking vessels, used for generations to prepare rice, curries, gravies, and milk-based dishes. Recognized by its rounded body, slightly narrow neck, and wide rim, the Degchi has long been an essential part of Indian kitchens.
Traditionally crafted from brass and copper, the Degchi gradually evolved into iron, clay, and steel across different regions of India.
Inspired by this iconic silhouette, our artisans transformed the familiar form into a handcrafted Dhoop Pot, preserving its timeless shape while giving it a new purpose in spiritual rituals and home décor.
The Journey of This Craft
In 2018, SADHUBELA introduced its original Large Degchi Dhoop Pot, featuring a handcrafted floral perforated design.
Since then, the craft has been continuously refined through improvements in quality, finishing, and proportions while preserving its traditional identity.
This is an updated design in the journey of the Degchi Dhoop Pot, which we launched in 2021.
With time journey we improved our design and also added a few extra features in this craft, like the quality of craft material, packaging, complementary dhoop sticks, and also a small surprise gift.
Why "Matsya Art"?
The word Matsya means Fish in Sanskrit.
The distinctive perforated pattern of this dhoop pot draws inspiration from the graceful texture of fish scales, creating a beautiful interplay of light, shadow, and fragrant smoke. Every perforation is carefully handcrafted by skilled artisans, making each piece unique.
The intricate jali not only enhances the appearance of the pot but also allows incense smoke to diffuse gently while safely containing the burning dhoop inside.
The Matsya Art Degchi Dhoop Pot is the latest evolution of this journey. Designed in a smaller, lightweight, and more convenient size, it brings the same heritage craftsmanship into a form that is ideal for modern homes and everyday use.
